| Dismemberment Plan @ The Black Cat |
[Apr. 29th, 2007|02:04 pm] |
Took the train the DC on Friday to hang with queiss and try to get into the Black Cat for the Dismemberment Plan. Showed up suuuuper early, and actually got in without too much trouble at all. Made friends with some locals + two guys that had flown in from London. We situated ourselves right at the very front and stood there through two (actually damn good) opening bands. The plan's set was awesome. They must place played over 20 songs for well over an hour and a half. Played all my favorites (Back & Forth, The Invitation, Spider in the Snow, Ice of Boston (dancing on stage!)). The most pit was getting a little crazy at times, but most everyone was cool about it and just dancing and having a good time. I think close to half the crowd had come in from out of town.
Oh ya, spotted Ben Gibbard. My note on Seattle Notables should go up soon! My second Seattle Notable sighting. Pretty good considering I live 3000 miles away. |

| Airport Advenitures |
[Nov. 22nd, 2006|05:47 pm] |
Was supposed to have a simple 2 hour flight today so that I could arrive in Greenville at a pleasant 5:30. Unfortunately, trouble ensued as soon as we arrived at the airport. First, the self-service machines could not locate our reservations, but a clerk informed us that our flight had been cancelled anyways, so we went upstairs to wait in the cancelled flights line. VERY SLOW. Sersiosly, why does it take 20 minutes to process each person? And why are there only 5 employees manning the 20 avaliable stations? So after about 45 minutes of waiting in line we finally got to the front. The employee still could not locate our reservation, so we had to call Expedia/get online in order to look up our confirmation number. Some how, that brought us up on the screen even though our names did not. Bizzare.
Anyways, all the other flights to Greenville for both today and tomorrow are overbooked so now we are flying to Knoxville, TN (168 miles from Greenville) and renting a car (which the airline isn't paying for!!!) to drive for about 3 additional hours in order to (hopefully!) get in sometime between 1 and 2 late tonight.
Also had a nice snafu with security. As our flight had been moved, alicetiara decided that she really really didn't want to check her bag (for fear of it getting lost in the shuffle), but apparently bringing jam (a very thoughtful gift for my parents) onto an airplain now constitutes a national security risk. Stupid TSA. Some yelling ensued, but it didn't do much good.
Anyways, sitting around in the airport now waiting on a flight 4 hours later than we were supposed to leave that isn't really even going very close to where we want to go. And I was worried about traffic making the cab late...
sigh
PS: Continental Airline Sux0rs! Never fly them! |

| SF in July? |
[Apr. 25th, 2006|02:56 pm] |
I'm seriously considering spending a month in SF this summer. Possibly July (save the first weekend when I'll be in Rhode Island for a wedding). Could be fun yes? Also, I now have a flight & a car for Coachella this weekend. And a place to stay for one night. Getting closer to actually being vaguely prepared.
I'll also prolly be in California for a week in late May for work. The bossman thinks I should go anyways. |
